Lectures on Landscape
Lectures on Landscape merges watercolor landscape paintings with photography’s realistic recording capacities. Each print in Lectures on Geology begins with a panoramic landscape photograph. After the assembly of the panorama a watercolor paintings is created which broadly outlines the lines and shapes of the photographic landscape panorama. The photographic image is printed over the watercolor painting, both revealing new meanings and chance connections as we as concealing and suppressing photographic details. As with photography’s early beginnings in recording of unusual geological formations, Lectures on Landscapes creates new meaning and engagement with the landscape.
